The Big Mac or the Ten Commandments?

The Big Mac or the Ten Commandments?

I read about a survey done a few years ago that said 80% of Americans can recognize the ingredients in a Big Mac to 60% who can recognize a statement as one of the Ten Commandments.  Let’s see. How does it go? I remember a little song: “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.”  I am not sure that’s exactly correct but it’s close and I am showing my age. McDonald’s certainly had a very effective marketing program. Do you know the Ten Commandments as well as you know an advertising jingle?

Many believers have the urge to rage against the legislature, the judicial system, secular media, educators or essentially anyone who has anything to do with removing the Ten Commandments from schools and courthouses. The most recent being the removal of the Ten Commandments from the Oklahoma capitol in 2015.

The problem is not the lack of the Ten Commandments displayed in public places. The problem is they aren’t written on the hearts of many who claim to be God’s children.

In the coming weeks we are going to study the Ten Commandments and seek to answer some important questions. If we are not under the Old Testament law, are the Ten Commandments still valid today? What do the Ten Commandments say about the nature of God? What do they tell us about relating to one another? What are we to make of the words, “For I, the Lord your God, is a jealous God?” We will explore these questions and many more. I hope you will join us on this journey by following along at
